17 December 2008

Consolidated Giroux has been in the business of dredging and dewatering for more than 40 years. This family business has an expertise of personnel that spans these years. Recently three employees were given 30 year certificates of achievement for the work they have done for Giroux.

This experience is what you buy with Giroux”, states Malcolm Wilson, General Manager of Consolidated Giroux. “There are many companies out there that have been around for fifty years but lack the experience because of employee turnover.”

Mine Tailings
Tailings ponds have offered many dredging companies headaches and broken machinery over the years. Projects are often delayed or abandoned because the contractor gets into trouble once they begin operations. If it isn’t the acidic nature of the material which destroys pumps and metal that offers you a challenge it is the countless rocks, trees and debris that create many hazards to dredging companies Giroux has continually innovated their equipment and techniques to meet these challenges by adapting to the tailing environment.

We have learnt from our mistakes of the past”, Eugene Rousselle Dredge manager mentions; the money lost in our early work in tailings forced us to adapt; we now pass this knowledge on to our clients which they recognize through repeat business.

Giroux has been a perennial customer to many of the mine sites in Canada because of our professional experience in dealing with Mine tailings.
Kidd mines in Timmins is a good indicator of the work we have done in Ontario. We have been on this site for 19 years. At Xstrata Onaping falls we have been working for 10 years. Inco Sudbury we have looked after their dredging projects for 12 years.

These clients have been around the block with other dredge companies and understand the value they are getting from Giroux’s experience”.

The dredge industry has a long history with mining and waste treatment. Giroux has spent years researching and improving their technique by adapting to the environment, which the site specific client needs.
These results are cost effective projects for the client and word of mouth business for Giroux. “The new work we do is mostly referral from successful projects we have done in the past. Our quality of work is the best sales call we can make” stated Mr. Wilson.
